Yardage Guide
Zist Zari fabrics are made to order and available from 1 yard. The quantity required depends on your garment’s measurements, silhouette and embellishment placement.
Fabric Measurements
- Length: One yard measures 36 inches / 91.44 cm.
- Width: Refer to the individual product listing. Confirm the usable embellished width before planning your garment.
- Customisation: Colours, dimensions and design details can be customised, subject to suitability.
Approximate Yardage
The following estimates assume 54–60 inches of usable fabric width.

These figures are a starting point. Your dressmaker should confirm the final quantity, allowing for measurements, motif matching, seam allowances and cutting layout.
Panel Fabrics & Appliqués
Panel fabrics and appliqués can be made to the measurements you provide. For dress panels, the main measurements are:
- Bust
- Waist
- Hip
- Required length
Additional measurements, such as sleeve length, shoulder width or neckline depth, may be supplied where relevant. For individual appliqués, include the required dimensions and intended placement.
Please specify inches or centimetres and distinguish body measurements from finished-piece dimensions. Confirm all measurements with your dressmaker before production.
Before Ordering
Check the required quantity, dimensions and product format carefully. A panel or appliqué is not a finished garment unless the listing specifically states otherwise.
Colour Guide
Our embellished fabrics can be customised in your preferred base and embellishment colours. Each combination creates a different finish, from tonal designs to contrasting beadwork and rhinestones.
Colour Selection
- Base Colour: The colour of the mesh, tulle, fishnet or other underlying fabric.
- Embellishment Colour: The colours of the rhinestones, beads, pearls, sequins and other decorative elements.
- Custom Combinations: Different base and embellishment colours can be combined, subject to material availability and design suitability.
Colour References
Photographs provide a visual reference rather than an exact colour match. Lighting, screen settings and reflective embellishments can affect how a shade appears. With sheer fabrics, the lining or colour underneath also influences the finished look.
For a specific colour request, provide a clear reference image and identify the colours required for the base and embellishments. Physical samples are recommended when a close match is important.
Sample Service
Our sample service includes:
- Four sample pieces, each measuring 15 × 15 inches.
- Your choice of colours, with a different colour available for each piece.
- US$100 total, including shipping.
Sample designs, colour combinations and preparation time are confirmed before payment. Larger motifs may be represented by a section of the design.
Minor variations can occur between handmade pieces and production batches. We recommend ordering the full quantity for a project together.
Fabric Construction
Zist Zari produces made-to-order embellished fabrics in Mumbai, combining hand embroidery and rhinestone application across a range of fabric bases.
Fabric Bases
Our designs use mesh, tulle, fishnet and other selected fabrics. Stretch, transparency, weight and drape vary by design; the individual product listing should be used as the reference.
Sheer fabrics may require a separate lining, depending on the garment and desired coverage.
Embellishment Techniques
- Rhinestones & Crystals: Normally adhesive-applied. Stitched rhinestones are available on request at an additional cost, subject to suitability.
- Beads, Pearls & Sequins: Hand embroidered onto the fabric, together with bugle beads and other embroidery elements.
- Mixed Designs: May combine hand-embroidered elements with adhesive-applied rhinestones.
Collection Names
Rhinestone Fabric, Beaded Fabric and Sequin Fabric identify the dominant embellishment, rather than an exclusive material. A rhinestone design may include embroidered beads or sequins, while a beaded design may incorporate rhinestones.
Fishnet Fabric refers to the open structure of the base and may feature different embellishments.
Customisation & Handwork
Base fabrics, colours, embellishment density, motif placement and dimensions can be customised. Feasibility, pricing and production time are confirmed before work begins.
Minor variations in placement are characteristic of handwork. Heavier embellishment can affect drape and should be considered when selecting fabric for a garment.
Cutting & Construction
Embellished fabrics require careful handling during cutting and sewing. Your dressmaker should plan motif placement and seam areas, securing any embroidery threads affected by cutting.
Care Instructions
Gentle cleaning and careful handling help preserve the fabric and its embellishments. Follow any design-specific instructions supplied with your order.
Cleaning
- Use cool water and a small amount of mild detergent, fully dissolved.
- Gently dip the fabric into the water and lift it out. Repeat a few times.
- Do not leave the fabric soaking.
- Rinse using the same gentle dipping motion in clean water.
- Do not scrub, rub, twist or wring the fabric.
Drying
Allow excess water to drain while supporting the fabric. Drape it over a broad, smooth support with the embellishment facing outwards.
Support heavy sections to prevent stretching. Dry away from direct heat and strong sunlight, and allow the fabric to dry completely before storage.
Heat & Professional Cleaning
Avoid machine washing, tumble drying, bleach and direct ironing over embellishments. Do not apply heat or steam to adhesive-applied rhinestones without design-specific advice.
Contact us before arranging dry cleaning, as suitability depends on the materials and construction.
Handling & Storage
Keep the fabric away from sharp jewellery and rough surfaces. Store clean and dry, with soft tissue or clean fabric separating embellished surfaces. Avoid suspending heavy pieces from delicate mesh or narrow straps.
For finished garments, follow the care requirements of the complete garment, including any lining, boning or trims added during construction.
Shipping & Returns
Zist Zari orders are made to order and dispatched from Mumbai, India. Please allow for both production and transit when planning your purchase.
Production Times
- Standard Orders: We aim to complete and dispatch within 14 calendar days.
- Priority Production: Dispatch within approximately 7 calendar days may be available at an additional charge. Availability must be confirmed before ordering.
- New Custom Designs: Generally require at least 3 weeks after approval. A production schedule is confirmed for each project.
These timelines refer to dispatch, not delivery. Design complexity, quantities and approval requirements may affect production time.
Shipping Charges
Free worldwide shipping is available on retail embellished-fabric and custom orders.
Wholesale orders and small orders of supplies or mesh fabric are excluded. Applicable shipping charges are confirmed before payment.
The US$100 sample package includes shipping.
Delivery & Tracking
Transit times vary by destination, courier and customs clearance. Tracking details are provided after dispatch.
For time-sensitive orders, confirm your required arrival date with us before purchasing and allow additional time for tailoring and fittings. Contact us if your parcel is delayed or tracking indicates a delivery issue.
Customs & Import Charges
Free shipping does not automatically include import duties, taxes or clearance fees. These charges are the recipient’s responsibility unless a duty-paid arrangement has been confirmed for the order.
Where a duty-paid service is available, we will confirm whether it is included before dispatch.
Cancellations
Cancellation requests must be submitted within 24 hours of placing the order and can only be accepted if production has not begun.
Once production starts, the order cannot be cancelled. Please contact us promptly with your order number.
Returns & Exchanges
Our fabrics, panels and appliqués are produced to order. We do not offer change-of-mind returns or exchanges on these products, except where required by applicable law.
Please confirm your design, colour, quantity and measurements before purchasing. Samples are available for reviewing colour and construction in advance.
Damaged, Incorrect or Defective Orders
Inspect your order upon delivery and, where possible, before cutting or using the fabric.
- Transit Damage or Incorrect Items: Please notify us within 48 hours of delivery.
- Other Visible Issues: Please notify us within 7 days of delivery.
- Supporting Information: Include your order number, clear photographs and a description of the issue. Retain the packaging. An unpacking video is helpful but not mandatory.
Our team will assess the issue and arrange an appropriate remedy, including repair, replacement or refund where applicable. Contact us before sending an item back so return arrangements can be confirmed.
These notification periods help us investigate promptly and do not limit your statutory consumer rights.
